Switzerland cuts 2026 asylum forecast as forced returns rise

The State Secretariat for Migration has lowered its forecast for Swiss asylum applications in 2026 to around 22,000, down from an earlier estimate of 26,000. Applications from Afghanistan, Turkey and Eritrea have fallen, while forced removals continue to increase.
