New federal rules will make 30 km/h limits on main roads harder to introduce

The federal government has set new conditions for municipalities seeking to introduce 30 km/h limits on main roads. From October 1, they will need to demonstrate that lower speeds will not divert traffic into residential areas and obtain an expert assessment.
