Historic Changes Coming to Zurich Public Transport Network

Zurich prepares for major public transport reorganization affecting seven tram lines, with significant impact on hospital access and commuter routes.

Zurich's transport company VBZ is implementing the biggest timetable change in its history starting December 14, 2025.
Seven tram lines will undergo route changes.
Tram operations at Bahnhofquai will be suspended for one full year to allow for disability access upgrades.
A new 'Super Line 5' will connect the Lengg hospital area and Uetlihof with railway stations on both lake banks.
Two temporary tram lines, 50 and 51, are being created specifically to handle the construction phase.
